A Fire alarm system is similar to an "emergency net" for a building. The system consists of numerous devices that monitor the presence of smoke, heat, fire, and carbon monoxide. Once the presence of danger is noted, a system of audiovisual alarms is activated to guide individuals to safety.
To learn a little bit more, one might describe this type of system as the buildings 'brain" when concerning safety, combining complicated electrical engineering, thermal physics, and automation for the protection of human life and property alike, twenty-four hours a day.
Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) The system’s brain and power supply: this device receives signals from the activating devices, processing them, sending them to notification devices and automatically initiating any response systems installed. It receives its primary power source from the AC power, but it also has a battery backup system capable of sustaining operation for at least 24 hours if the mains power fails.
Initiating Devices These input devices indicate to the Fire Alarm Control Panel that a fire has been detected and should raise the alarm:
Notification Appliances
These devices sound the alarm to alert people in the building to take action and allow them to escape:
Safety Interfaces Modern FACP systems have the capability of interfacing with safety systems to provide more than simply an audible alarm. For instance, magnetic door holders can be released to allow doors to close and contain smoke, the HVAC can be turned off to help control the movement of fire and smoke around the building and the elevators can be recalled to ground level.
CALL US ANYTIME :
Sensors monitor events that would indicate an emergency, or a manual pull station can be used.
The FACP receives electrical inputs from detectors and determines that it is an emergency signal.
The FACP controls operation of the horns, strobes and relays to inform occupants.
Dialers that automatically contact an offsite monitoring center and then dispatch emergency services to the premises.
